Position Overview
Are you a wordsmith with an adaptable voice and a talent for snappy, fun, and pithy writing? If you said yes, keep reading! TED is searching for a clever, skilled copywriter to help bring big ideas to life for our global audience across social media. From explaining why robots might one day deliver your burritos to what it takes to really fight climate change to why your brain loves it when you exercise, the Social Media Editor will be able to break down concepts in a delightful, interesting and accessible way. This ideal candidate will help people all over the world connect with the latest and greatest that TED has to offer and inspire them to connect with ideas — and each other!
Primary Responsibilities:
- Writing copy for the main TED social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIn);
- Scheduling content for TED social media channels using content management program;
- Working with Audience Development team to script and optimize copy on bespoke content including quotecards, Instagram stories, explainers, and other content;
- Liaising with other Media team members, including our editorial, podcast and paid content partners, to advise on social media posting best practices;
- Working with Social Media Content and Community manager to communicate on platform with our audience including identifying opportunities for engagement;
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or other relevant field or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of experience writing and maintaining a cross-platform social strategy for social media, a brand, an advertising agency, or other equivalent digital writing experience;
- Strong editorial background;
- Ability to work independently and with a team;
- Attention to detail;
- Familiarity with data-informed content strategies (preferred, but not required)
