Partnerships Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Contract Partnerships Specialist works closely with the Operations work group, and is responsible for devising and maintaining in-kind donation strategies, logistics and fulfilment. The successful applicant will be a go-getter who has a track record of achieving targets through the successful solicitation and stewardship of gifts from partners, both new and returning. Thoughtful consideration when aligning prospective partners with the TED brand and ethos.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS

  • Degree (preferred) or diploma in business administration or similar discipline
  • 4+ years of donor relations, or in-kind/partner acquisition experience
  • Superior communication skills and business acumen
  • Critical thinking and the ability to evaluate every aspect of a situation
  • Solution oriented approach and the ability to proactively identify problems and opportunities, and action them appropriately with minimal supervision
  • Works well under pressure, able to meet competing deadlines and work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust amongst all stakeholders, acting ethically and responsibly in all interactions
  • Ability to think strategically and meet competing priorities in a high-volume and results-oriented environment; demonstrated resourcefulness and independence
  • Willingness to learn and develop knowledge of best practices in corporate partnerships
  • Behaves in a manner that fosters a positive atmosphere throughout the organization; consistently demonstrates a commitment to hard work, professionalism and openness

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Budget management: Development, maintenance, reporting, invoicing, and reconciliation
  • Strategic development: Manage the development and implementation of in-kind donations, follow a strategic plan in line with established targets, providing direction and interpretation through the lens of the TED brand and identity. Including: Food and beverage consumables, gift bag items, event florals, and other products as needed
  • Critical path: Strict adherence to project timelines and deliverables
  • Community outreach: Responsible for engaging with local and international companies to obtain in-kind donations by way of email, in-person meetings and cold calling for multiple events throughout the year
  • Research: Extensive research and vetting to ensure that all relationships with prospective companies meet criteria and align with our brand and mission
  • Database management: Regular and consistent tracking of donor/partner lead information, detailing the engagement cycle
  • Logistics: Plan for the shipping, logistics and onsite execution of all in-kind donations to specific contractual obligations
  • Reporting: Prepare and provide sponsorship ROI reports, and fulfillment reports post event
  • Relationship building: Foster positive donor relationships through engagement, follow-up and post-event reporting, with the expectation to create multiyear, or multi-event agreements
  • Decision making: Analytical and effective problem-solving skills
  • Negotiation: Design and implement effective solicitation strategies that will identify and acquire high-potential national and international partners
  • Communications: Adhere to branding and identity guidelines when composing all internal and external communication
  • Leadership: Help to train and lead onsite support staff
  • Willingness to contribute however possible to ensure the overall success of the position
