This is a short-term, temporary contract role for onsite support at the TEDMonterey conference in Monterey, California. You may be asked to work some or all of the dates between July 26-August 4, 2021.
Social Spaces are areas where TED attendees can eat, relax, watch Simulcast TED talks and interact with exhibits, activities and presentations when they’re not in the TED Theater. As a Social Spaces Supervisor, you’ll oversee and maintain these spaces, including supervising staff, supporting TED’s partners, setting up and tearing down exhibits, and assisting attendees with any question they may have. You’ll also help attendees with questions and directions and make sure that the Social Spaces are a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment.
You’re a brand ambassador and a people person with prior customer service experience and excellent interpersonal communication skills. You’re comfortable assisting high-profile guests with discretion and tact, actively listening to requests and taking the temperature of a situation before reacting. You’re proactive and resourceful, able to think critically when solving problems and making effective decisions quickly. You manage competing priorities with minimal oversight and follow instructions well. You’re highly organized and extremely detail-oriented - nothing escapes your notice!
This position involves standing and walking for long periods, and being able to participate in some physical work and heavy lifting of up to 50 lbs.
